Love of Old...

So clearly I have a bit of a love affair with lace. I have always loved all things old, vintage and antique... I attribute that to my parent's toting me around to multiple antique stores from birth in addition to a special attention to vintage linens. As such, I have grown to love antique furniture, vintage fabric, and old made into new. I think it is the idea that everything has a story. The pillow case made by hand by my grandmother, the vintage lace, and most of all the smocked dress every Christmas and Easter handmade by my mother for my twin sister and me each and every year... so yes I love all things old and handmade.

Like many, as I embark on this new wedding planning endeavor I come to realize all the things that I have overlooked in the past. I am beginning to realize that I really do love to make things by hand. I cherish receiving such gifts. I do indeed love all things wedding related and making event design even more enjoyable! It is my latest labor of love and I look forward to exploring my creative, closet domestic diva, loving soul! Hooray for creativity :)

Wedding Theme

Theme.
We want this wedding to be laid back and fun, but most importantly we want to maintain our personalities and sense of style. We are also trying to plan a wedding on a budget. I know, I know... how original. There are tons of blogs out there that are devoted to budget friendly weddings, and I have probably read most of them. But we (I) plan to take tips, pointers and ideas from the blog world and create a wedding that represents us. I think it will be a fun adventure and I hope everyone enjoys being a part of this!

So back to theme (I get side tracked). I love all things vintage and rustic. Primative furniture, mason jars, and of course lace. I have always loved lace, and hope to incorporate lace into as many aspects of our wedding style as possible. I plan to use lace as a theme throughout our wedding to embrace the vintage feel and create unity from stationary to favors. It will be an experiment in creativity!

Welcome to our wedding blog!

I use the term "our" loosely because if you know Bobby then you know that this is really Ashley's blog writing while her supportive (albeit non-blogging) fiance sits supportively by her side. I do hope, however, that this blog will serve to inform our guests of wedding details, travel plans, lodging details and more to keep guests up to date on the latest and greatest in wedding planning central. This site will surely develop and evolve as we go, but the goal is to keep an open line of communication with our guests while sharing some of the fun details and plans of the impending nuptials.

Thanks for visiting!
